Representative
Larry Bell, NC, is beginning his
third term in the legislature and was recently named to a leadership
position as Democratic Whip. Representative Bell has been an
active and vital member of the Task Force since its inception.
Representative Bells expertise and experience in education
where he served as a former Superintendent of Public Schools,
contributes significantly to the work of the Task Force. |

Representative
Marlow Colvin, IL, began his term
in the Illinois legislature in 2001. A dynamic young leader,
Representative Colvin chairs the Consumer Protection Committee
and is Vice Chair of Personnel & Pensions. He serves on
several other prominent committees including Appropriations
and Elementary & Secondary Education. Representative Colvin
is the newest member of the FLTF and brings a wealth of talent
and expertise to the Task Force. |

Representative
Virgil Fludd, GA, serves as the
co-chair of the Task Force. He is beginning his second term
in the Georgia state legislature. Representative Fludd has been
a significant force in promoting financial literacy in his state
and at the national level. He notes that Georgia took an alternate,
non-legislative approach to financial literacy education. The
Department of Education through successful partnerships has
made it mandatory that students complete a personal finance
curriculum as a requirement for graduation. |

Representative
Jerry Govan, SC, serves as a co-chair
of the Task Force. He is serving his sixth term, representing
the 95th district of South Carolina. His focus has been on financial
wealth, and adult/family literacy. The State of South Carolina
has been very proactive on the issue of financial literacy,
and Representative Govan was successful in passing the States
first Financial Literacy Education legislation. Representative
Govan has also been instrumental in assisting other states advance
their financial literacy efforts. |

Representative
Ed Jennings, FL, first elected
in 2000, brings his leadership and business savvy to the Task
Force. He was the first Chair of the Florida Black Caucus and
has recently introduced legislation referred to as the prosperity
bill. The bill sets forth requirements for the development
of high school financial literacy courses in the State of Florida.
Representative Jennings wealth of experience has been
a tremendous asset to the Task Force. |

Representative
Jerome Horton, CA, from the City
of Inglewood, began his service in the Legislature in 2001.
A pacesetter, Assemblyman Horton was appointed as a member of
the powerful Rules Committee his freshman year. The Financial
Literacy Task Force looks forward to joining Assemblyman Horton
in the State of California to advance partnerships and program
initiatives in financial literacy in African American communities
in 2006. |

Representative
Rosemary Marshall, CO was successful
in passing legislation on financial literacy education in the
2004 Colorado legislative session. She is proud to note that
the Colorado Department of Education is in the process of implementing
the program. Due to her expertise and leadership, Representative
Marshall has served on NBCSIs Task Force on Asset Building
and Financial Literacy. |

Representative
Fred Strahorn, OH, is serving
his third term in the Ohio House of Representatives. He serves
on several powerful Committees: Economic Development & Environment,
Finance & Appropriation, Ways and Means, and is the ranking
Minority member on the Public Utilities & Energy Standing
Committees. As one of the newest members on the Task Force,
we look forward to working with Representative Strahorn on advancing
Financial Literacy efforts in the state of Ohio. |

Representative
Darryl Towns, NY, was elected
to the New York legislature in 1992. He serves on several crucial
committees including, Children & Families and Transportation.
With a degree in economics, and a long and active record in
community affairs, he is making tremendous strides in the diverse
54th Assembly district where he was born and now represents
in the General Assembly. Assemblyman Towns brings an enormous
wealth of experience to the Task Force. |

Representative
Mary Waters, MI, currently serves
as a Democratic floor leader, and is the first African American
woman to hold that position in the Michigan House of Representatives.
Representative Waters continues to be a relentless advocate
for the families of the 4th legislative district . The Task
Force welcomes Representative Waters enthusiasm and leadership
on the Task Force. |
